Abacavir is an antiretroviral medication used to treat HIV infection by reducing the amount of virus in the blood. While it doesn't cure HIV, it helps prevent the development of AIDS and HIV-related illnesses, and can reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to others.[2] Ziagen is currently approved and in use across 13 indications[4].[1]
