Mannitol is used to reduce swelling in the brain and eyes, and to help prevent kidney failure by increasing urine production. It works by drawing fluid out of tissues and into the bloodstream where it can be filtered out by the kidneys.[2] Osmitrol is currently approved and in use across 53 indications[4].[1]
